Choosing food that has been sourced, either by ourselves or others, from our fields and waterways is becoming more and more popular. Health experts continue to espouse the benefits of eating wild and game meats because of their low-fat, low-cholesterol and high-protein content, and even reality television shows are turning to meats such as rabbit and duck as tasty and nutritional alternatives to more conventional meats such as beef and chicken. Apart from the physical exercise sometimes required to source these particular foods, there are also mental health advantages. Spending time in the natural environment gives us an opportunity to clear our minds, replenish our souls and reconnect with nature, as well as provide a well-needed break from our go-go lives.
